Conservative product boundaries

Separate pipe couplings are inferred only from an affirmative product fact. Fabric roll-width slitting is never assumed without exact-product permission. Prefabricated drain-bundle takeoffs are outside this calculator's supported scope.

Important limits

Start another calculation when the envelope, pipe product or outside diameter, or fabric product changes. Hydraulic design, outlet selection, excavation work, proprietary-system equivalence, and suitability recommendations are not part of this release.

Five checked numerical examples

These documented scenarios use repeatable inputs so you can compare the displayed quantities with the published methodology. They do not approve a project design or product selection.

  1. 50 foot designed trench: 142 gravel bags, 5 pipe sections, 4 affirmed straight couplings, and 1 fabric roll.
  2. Two measured segments: 30 plus 20 feet produces 5 pipe sections, 3 couplings, and 3 selected fabric rolls.
  3. 12 foot short run: The entered envelope, pipe diameter, and bag yield produce 22 whole gravel bags.
  4. Reusable pipe coil: A 35 plus 25 foot route uses one 100 foot coil, no straight couplings, and leaves a 40 foot remnant.
  5. Gross-envelope policy: The same measured run keeps the full entered gravel-envelope volume visible instead of silently subtracting pipe displacement.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Entering trench dimensions before route, pipe diameter, slope, outlet, and discharge have been selected by an appropriate design process.
  • Assuming pipe displacement is always subtracted instead of explicitly selecting and reviewing the gross-envelope or OD-cylinder-adjusted policy.
  • Using this takeoff for foundations, basements, retaining walls, driveways, septic work, erosion control, or application approval.
