How the planner works

One local material list for several calculations

Save a result from any MaterialNest calculator, then return here to group those takeoffs into a named project. Repeated materials stay traceable to their source calculations so you can check quantities before combining a shopping list.

Browser-local storage

Projects are stored in this browser on this device. MaterialNest does not require an account and does not upload project measurements to a server. Clearing browser data or changing devices can remove the local copy, so export a local backup file for work you need to keep. This is not cloud backup or cloud sync.

A practical planning workflow

  1. Choose a calculator and enter measurements from your field notes.
  2. Review its assumptions, formula evidence, and whole-purchase rounding.
  3. Save the result to a project and add any other project takeoffs.
  4. Check each combined line and, for whole-item packs, compare two supplier quotes using the same product specification and units.
  5. Print the reviewed list or export a local backup.

Start with the calculator directory, review the measurement guides, or inspect the calculation methods. Estimates are planning aids, not structural, code, permit, or installation approval.
