Measurement guide

  1. Sketch each uninterrupted section or segment.
  2. Note whether the field asks for clear faces or post centres.
  3. Record units, stock lengths, and bag yields with each value.

US customary measurements

Enter decimal feet, feet and inches, or common inch fractions. An unlabelled value such as 10.5 means 10.5 feet; use an inch label for values such as 10.5 in. Mixed measurements such as 8 ft 3 1/2 in are also supported. Clear opening width means the inside-face distance between posts.

Metric measurements

Use millimetres, centimetres, or metres, such as 2400 mm, 240 cm, or 2.4 m. The calculator normalizes measurements internally before solving.

Good field notes

  • Sketch each straight segment.
  • Mark gates, corners, and stairs separately.
  • Check actual product stock lengths and bag yields before buying.
