What this worksheet covers
Transcribe straight and stepped course runs from an existing design, preserve exact block patterns/buried courses/setbacks, reconcile end cuts and supplied cap joints, and order already specified supporting materials.
Selected-design material quantities only. No retaining stability, safe-height rule, soil, geogrid, drainage, loads or permit design. Curves and undecomposed multi-height patterns are unsupported.
Import a saved measurement
Select a source, then an existing field with the same measurement unit. Add region or station rows first when needed. Confirm physical meaning and datum; importing a number does not approve a design or replace the rest of the required measurements.
Enter the measured layout and selected product information, then calculate. Exact schedules and a drawing appear here.
Count the supplied courses, including buried work
Visible face area alone omits buried or stepped runs. Record each straight course’s bottom elevation, start, installed length, specified setback and ordered product repeat from the selected design. Each repeat uses checked installed block lengths, including any specified joints. Products in one horizontal course need consistent installed height; complex multi-height patterns require an expressly supplied course decomposition.
The illustrative lower course repeats a 12 in module then a 6 in module along a 10 ft run. Its seven long and six short source blocks consume the run exactly; an 8 ft upper course has a separate start. These are fictitious ordering dimensions, without a stability or setback recommendation.
Keep end cuts, caps and design support traceable
An approved partial end piece consumes one matching whole source block. Unconfirmed cutting permission holds the order instead of inventing a pattern fix. Straight caps use separately supplied joints and cutting rules. Transcribe already specified base, drainage and geogrid quantities as supporting lines; none is designed here, and retaining-wall drainage is outside the ordinary yard French Drain calculator.
Allan Block’s block and cap modification reference is an example of system-specific documentation. Obtain your exact system and selected wall design. Height alone cannot establish stability, permit exemption, soil suitability or reinforcement requirements.

Method and limits
A quantity transcription of supplied straight or stepped courses. Product patterns and cap joints come from that design, not from an assumed safe wall height.
Course patterns consume real blocks
Enter developed course start, elevation, length, buried status and setback with exact installed product lengths/heights and an ordered repeat pattern. Pattern products must have compatible course heights. The repeat fills each horizontal course; a permitted final cut consumes one full source block. Offcut reuse is not inferred. If the remainder requires an undocumented cut, wall purchases and ledger cuts are held. Overlapping courses in the developed geometry are rejected.
Optional caps use separately measured straight runs, supplied joint stations and an unspliced stock cutting plan. End trim, kerf and remnant limits follow the chosen cap stock record. A bounded best plan or separate conservative fallback is identified; neither promises optimal stock. Supporting materials use only the quantities, reserves and package contents explicitly supplied. The tool does not generate geogrid, drain or backfill specifications.
Wall design remains external
At most 5,000 course pieces are supported. Undecomposed curves and incompatible course-height patterns are outside this representation. Keep the exact block pattern and supplied design references. Soil, bearing, stability, surcharge, setback, buried courses and drainage must be determined externally. A retaining-wall drain must not be entered in the ordinary-yard French Drain calculator.
Arithmetic checked against the current calculation source on 1 October 2026. Product instructions remain the exact records entered in this worksheet; recording a source is not external approval.
