Post-centre measurements. Actual 4 in posts, 1.5 in balusters, a selected 4 in maximum gap, 8 ft rail stock, and 10% rail-stock reserve. 40 balusters are installed; 40 are purchased. The rail-stock reserve does not add extra balusters. This is a quantity illustration, not structural or code approval.

Railing layout
Work from a clear opening, post-centre runs, or the complete guard outline.
Deck surfaces and finishes
